Time Traveling With Google

http://www.google.com/search2001.html

In honor of it's 10th-year anniversary, Google has made available their search index from January 2001. In some cases, the results can be pulled from an Internet Archive. Here a some interesting findings while "Googling" back in time

This is the world of Google circa 2001, a time capsule adventure available until the end of the month at Google.com/search2001.html in celebration of the search engine's 10th birthday. (Google has released the earliest good version of its index available, which, for technical reasons, is from 2001 rather than 1998.)

Being an employee , the 1st thing I searched was "oracle" and got this link

http://web.archive.org/web/20011217200518/www.oracle.com/

this took me to oracle home page when I was in 11th standard. when i searched "gmail" , it didnt exist.

Note : you can always try http://www.archive.org/index.php for older version of any web page

Keep track of your shared expenses

Keep track of your shared expenses  with roommates or a friends group with whom you have spend money while traveling.Normal spreadsheet like Ms Excel and Open offoce (With expense calculator template) can me very difficult to share.

Online collaborative spreadsheet like Google Docs  (with appropriate template )can be shared easily within friends but they can end up with messy calculation when a lot of people are involved and not having equal share in paying and owing.

BillMonk tracks shared expenses within social groups - friends, co-workers and family.

Similar to iOWEYOU, BillMonk helps you cover or borrow from your friends without worrying that one of you will forget.

  • Borrow and remember. Don't forget to pay your friend back for the cash she loaned you the other day.

  • Roommates. Rent, phone, power... solve the headache of figuring out everyone's fair share.

  • Restaurants. It's stressful to split restaurant bills. Just let one person pay and report it

  • Group vacations. Tracking who paid for what on vacation is no fun: hotel, gas, tickets, etc. Report these bills on the go with your cell phone and settle up when you get home!

  • Shared Gifts. Make it easy to track debts when a group of friends pitch in together to buy a nice gift for someone.

If you hate signing up in yet another website with yet another account with yet another password www.buxfer.com will let u log in with Google yahoo aol and several other popular accounts
